Serving Baja California Norte
At an early age, Armando experienced neglect in his medical care, leaving lasting effects on his physical and mental well-being. This ignited a passion to help orphaned children meet their essential medical needs.
Subsequently, Armando became involved with various charitable organizations, first as a volunteer and later as a board member. He understood that the extremely high expenses faced by nonprofits hindered their ability to support their financial mission. Consequently, he conceived the idea of establishing a nonprofit with minimal or no overhead to better address these challenges.
While exploring how to realize his goal, Armando discovered that Baja California Norte was home to over 2,000 orphans, many lacking essential medical, dental, vision, and emotional care. This revelation prompted him to approach the Hospital Infantil de las Californias with a proposal to collaborate and provide services to these children. Drawing on his extensive 12-year tenure as a board member of the California-based Foundation for the Children, which built Hospital Infantil back in 1994, Armando believed that teaming up with Dr. Antonio Loaiza, Director of the Hospital Infantil de las Californias, and Rosa Elena Garcia, Director of Fundacion Para los Niños de las Californias, the Mexican Foundation operating the hospital, was the most effective way to offer medical assistance to these orphans.
Through their discussions, a mutually beneficial agreement was forged to assist children residing in numerous orphanages across Tijuana, Rosarito, Ensenada, and Tecate. Implemented in December 2022, the partnership made an immediate impact, providing over 820 consultations to children by the end of December 31, 2023. Tres En Uno envisions a continued and expanding outreach, expecting the number of beneficiaries to grow exponentially each year in the future.
